$250 + $25 Materials Fee
In this workshop with Candace, we’ll explore the fun farm animal in Pique Assiette Mosaic. No longer the outsider art it once was, explore the shard and found object mosaic and all the delight it can be. Learn techniques for mosaic cartoon (pattern) drawing, interpreting plate patterns as values, and create with your choice of a delightful farmyard inhabitant. Learn to adapt the contours of shards in opus sectile style and utilize them to your advantage. Art doesn’t have to be flat! Let’s employ those shapes, bowl edges, plate feet, and cup handles — it’s anything goes in this whimsical workshop, and you’ll discover a new world of mosaic tesserae with china.
Participants are urged to bring any pottery (both patterns and solids) or found objects they might want to incorporate. Start collecting photos of one of 3 the animals noted for reference. We’ll design your flock or herd together and find the andamento that best relays your vision, whether it’s chickens, sheep or donkeys.
